Debra has been involved with Village Foundations since the beginning and first visited Malawi in 2010. This first visit she describes as life changing and from then she committed to making a difference in some way to those living in Malawi.
Debra has worked in the NHS for 30 years, beginning as a Registered Nurse, specialising in Cancer and then Specialist Palliative Care before moving into operational management and Strategic roles. She is now an Associate Director working in Cancer service transformation. Debra has visited Malawi many times over the years and works closely with Jon, and the other Trustees to provide leadership and help create the vision for Village Foundations. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Her experience in operations and strategy and working with teams to deliver sustainable change, specifically in healthcare, has contributed to help shaping VF’s programme of work over the years.
Personally, Debra has a passion for the arts and loves to attend music and theatre events with friends and family as well as visiting the North East coast to recharge!
